Further Information:
Superficially rather similar to Brachycerus undatus but instead of being black, it possess white patches or streaks. The larvae eat out the inside of the onion bulbs hence it is sometimes a pest. It is usually found in onion fields or wild habitats close to them. Like many weevils, it plays dead when touched.
